Sneek peek of Ronnie the Robot written by Ulises Farinas and Erick Freitas for Monkey Brain Comics
OK, i got this new way of penciling and inking Trinadot, which you'll see in issue 4, and, well, it's so new yet so natural i got super stoked to use it on this short wonderfully written story by the above mentioned writers. and then i learned i'd get to whet the color stone. COLOR oh my. it's so delicate and delicious, isn't it? for one who's been dwelling in velvety grays for so long... it's like being able to stretch out and touch the corners of the world. went to the Publications & Multiples Fair put on by Open Space this weekend and wow the amazing inspiration present there... well, let's just say i want to try something slightly on the abstract side soon... maybe for the next Baltimore Time Travel Anthology. MoCCA is coming!!! s'how i feel.

STOKED. so yah, look forward to some babes on birch board or whatever. love you!

pen & ink
for mutant #3

MoCCA was a blast! met so many cool peeps and lots of good pics were taken TBUS (to be uploaded soon). free comic book day went down and lucky peoples went to Atomic Books to get their free copy of Mutant #3 which i did this Milk & Cheese parody for. last night was the Maryland Film Festival after party where we danced and talked to Bobcat Goldthwait! the animated shorts were sweet and existential and helped me enter a new level of cosmic understanding. i am in desperate need of young adult audiobook recordings so if you've got some - don't be holding out on me! also, i will begin a new round of submissions, so if you're a publisher and you're reading this, get ready 'cause i'm gonna knock your socks off! ...or something like that. Trinadot. word. ^_^

nullum gratuitum prandium
colored pencil and marker on paper
for The Comic Section
March 27th, 2012 11:11am
how is it that no one has insisted that i sit down and truly experience a nib and ink well? a few days ago i called it negligence but now it seems more like a well-meaning deference. if you're making do with technical pens why try a whole other technique that surely requires practice? well, i would like to grow. with a technical pen i found myself doing things that were cheap imitations of the nib pen - without knowing that i was aping a classical thing. well now count me a convert. i may blorp on the page alot but i know a painterly ink line when i see it. also sprung for a few sapphire and sienna w/c brushes for the gouacheing.
in other news i have been slowly constructing a body of portraits at my away studio. there is gold, there are dots, there are circles - on ladies. one has already sold and new painting surfaces are being constructed from the dismembered pieces of wooden palettes outside. i am not afraid of the raw wood. it will educate me as i embark on my journey as urban painting ninja with painter dan everett. also, a couple shows are coming together for April and May as well as MoCCA - guess what? i got into OTAKON! >o<

anemones
acrylic on wood composite panel
Sunday, March 11th, 2012 10:18 PM
well, it's a leap year and today is daylight savings: rarities. also a rarity? my posting. the kitten, Darjeeling, is galloping through the corridor and my entry for the upcoming newsprint periodical, the Comic Section, being put together by the talented Jee-Shaun Wang, is nearly done. the theme for this anthological piece is "The End of The End of The World" which answers perfectly my desire to commemorate apocalypse sequentially, via newsprint. the bulk of penciling Trinadot 4 is complete and inking is on the horizon waiting there with a bottle of india and stylus - an experiment for me, as i traditionally favor micron & faber-castell.
those who've heard of or read In the Hands of Boys, perhaps you've wanted to know what happens to Radojko and Anna? well, next month, at MoCCA, In the Hands of Boys II should appear, IN PRINT, at my exhibitor table. there will be prints and other frivolities including fart earrings i fashioned with my darling sister, Anjali.
